Russia warns of a 'catastrophic' nuclear escalation threat at military forum in China

Russia on Monday warned of a 'catastrophic' nuclear escalation threat or worse, clash between nuclear powers at a forum in Beijing on October 30. Speaking at Xiangshan Security Forum in China, Russia's defense minister Sergei Shoigu said that United States and its allies continue to "try to undermine Russia's security and deprive us of will to resist," according to Russia’s state affiliated ncy Tass.

"Having provoked an acute crisis in Europe, West is trying to expand crisis potential in Asia Pacific," Russia's Shoigu said. "Direct involvement of countries with nuclear arsenals multiplies strategic risks," he ded.

Shoigu reiterated Russia's status as a nuclear superpower, as he focussed on ramifications awaiting western world in case of imposition of more sanctions and attempts of isolating Moscow globally.
