EU Commission proposes to suspend import duties on all Ukrainian exports for one year

The European Commission on Wednesday, April 27, proposed a one-year suspension of import duties on all Ukrainian exports to the European Union.

European Commission on Wednesday, April 27, proposed a one-year suspension of import duties on all Ukrainian exports to European Union. EU Commission also proposes a one-year suspension of all EU anti-dumping and safeguard measures on Ukrainian steel exports to support Ukraine amid ongoing war. EU Commission has taken decision to help boost Ukraine's exports to EU. development comes as war between Russia and Ukraine continues for day 63. 

According to EU Commission, decision will help in reducing difficulties faced by Ukrainian producers and exporters amid Russia's military offensive. proposal of EU Commission regarding suspension of import duties on all Ukrainian exports needs to be considered and approved by European Parliament and Council of European Union. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stressed that Russia's aggression in Ukraine has "severely" affected ecomy of war-torn nation. Leyen stated that she has been discussing ways of supporting ecomy, and macro-financial assistance with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Ursula von der Leyen highlighted that both of m agreed on importance of suspension of import duty to boost ecomy of Ukraine. She ded that decision of EU Commission will facilitate export of Ukrainian industrial and agricultural goods to European Union. Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commission Executive Vice-President and Commissioner for Tre, in statement called EU's proposal "unprecedented" and ded that European Union has t delivered such tre liberalisation measures before. Dombrovskis has been prioritising ecomy of Ukraine amid Russian offensive. Valdis Dombrovskis highlighted that measures will help Ukrainian producers and exporters as well as boost ecomy of Ukraine. 

“ EU has never before delivered such tre liberalisation measures, which are unprecedented in ir scale: granting Ukraine zero tariff, zero quota access to EU market," Valdis Dombrovskis said in statement.

UK removes all tariffs on goods from Ukraine 

Earlier on 26 April, United Kingdom anunced removal of all tariffs covered in existing UK-Ukraine tre agreement and imposed new penalties on Russia. According to press release from Department for International Tre, all taxes on goods imported from Ukraine would be lifted, and all quotas will be withdrawn, giving war-torn nation ecomic assistance in ir hour of need. In dition to this, British government has declared an embargo on export of certain products and techlogy to Russia, including interception and monitoring equipment. In dition, UK has also anunced an export ban on products and techlogy that Russia could use to repress Ukrainians. According to UK government press release, products that could be targeted in Russian ban could include interception and monitoring equipment.
