G20 foreign ministers to discuss food & security challenges caused by Russia-Ukraine war

EAM Dr S Jaishankar is expected to outline India’s stand on food, energy security and global supply chains as G20 Foreign Ministers are set to meet on July 7-8.

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar is expected to outline India’s stand on food, energy security and global supply chains as G20 Foreign Ministers are set to meet on July 7 to 8 to discuss global challenges pertaining to Russia-Ukraine war. upcoming G20 FMs’ meeting in Indonesia is likely to witness participation of Chinese and Russian Foreign Ministers where diplomats would discuss crisis budding war in Ukraine.

EAM Jaishankar is also expected to hold a range of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from or G20 nations, which is a group of world’s leing ecomies. tably, its members account for over 80% of global GDP, 75% of global tre and 60% of population of planet. In its capacity as present G20 chair, Indonesia is conducting meeting.

While confirming Jaishankar’s attendance at upcoming meeting, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement that at summit, “participating foreign ministers will deliberate on issues of contemporary relevance, such as strengning multilateralism and current global challenges, including food and energy security”.

Jaishankar’s participation will enhance India’s engment with G20

MEA has ted that Jaishankar’s participation in meeting will enhance India's engment with G20 member states. Ministry said, “As a G20 troika member and as incoming G20 Presidency, India's role in upcoming FMM discussions assumes even greater importance. We are currently extending stefast support to Indonesian Presidency, and will be taking forward discussions on contemporary global challenges, with a view to achieving meaningful outcomes, during our Presidency”.
