India denounces Bucha killings; urges Russia-Ukraine to return to negotiations table
India has again reiterated its demand for an immediate cessation of violence and hostilities between Russia and Ukraine while tabling its point at the UN forum.

India has again reiterated its demand for an immediate cessation of violence and hostilities in Ukraine while keeping its point at international forum on Wednesday. While speaking at United Nations Security Council-- which promotes international peace and security-- Deputy Permanent Representative to UN, R Ravindra expressed grave concern over current situation in war-torn country and appeal to country to stop conflict. He urged both-- Russia and Ukraine-- to return to negotiations table in order to stop bloodshed. "We continue to remain deeply concerned at worsening situation in Ukraine and reiterate, call for an immediate cessation of violence, an end to hostilities," Ravindra said at UNSC Arria-formula meeting in Ukraine.
Indian representative stressed that solution can be reached by shedding blood and at cost of incent lives. He appealed to countries to pursue path of diplomacy and dialogue. While condemning mass killing of civilians in Ukraine's Bucha, he demanded an independent investigation into matter. "We have emphasized right from beginning of conflict need to pursue path of diplomacy and dialogue. We have unequivocally condemned reported killings in Bucha and retreat our support for call for an independent investigation," country's Deputy Permanent Representative said at UN Security Council.

"India has been at forefront of protecting human rights from its inception, including in drafting of Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We firmly believe that all decisions should be taken respecting due process, as all our democratic qualities and structures in join us to do. This applies to international organizations as well, including United Nations," Ravindra ded. "We welcome UN Secretary General's ongoing visit in region, including to Moscow and Kyiv and have taken positive te of his discussions with parties on humanitarian corridors in Ukraine, especially in Mariupol," he said.
Russia-Ukraine war
Russia initiated a full-fledged war against Ukraine nearly two days after Russian President Vlimir Putin signed a decree recognising independence of breakaway regions Donetsk and Luhansk. Putin's action came despite West's repetitive warning. On February 24, Russian troops started a military operation against Ukraine. Since n, it has been bombarding several cities in Ukraine, resulting in killing of thousands of civilians. On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to his Russian counterpart to end war immediately but ded that he would t let Russian forces take a single piece of Ukrainian land.
