With ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine intensifying with each passing day, concerns have been surging among global community regarding possibility of yet ar world war. war, that involves Russia, pro-Russian forces, Belarus on one side, and Ukraine on or side, on its seventh day, saw Moscow's airborne troops landing in Ukraine's second-largest city of Kharkiv with Russian military claiming to have taken control of sourn city of Kherson. Russian forces have been mounting ir attacks on residential buildings including a strike on a Police building in Kharkiv.

Russian invasion of Ukraine, resulting in casualties including destruction of lives, properties, and much more, has been dominating helines for weeks. For someone, who wants to learn context and backstory of ongoing conflict, Netflix's documentary titled Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom is a great start. documentary chronicles a period in Ukraine's history from back in 2015 when  Maidan Revolution ousted a pro-Russian government led by n-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

Directed by Evgeny Afineevsky, Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom is based on Euromaidan protests in Ukraine that were intensified by Ukrainian government's decision in 2014 wherein it suspended signing of a tre agreement with European Union. agreement was in favour of closer ties with Russia and this became one of reasons that le to Russian invasion of Ukraine. documentary revolves around student's protests and origin of Euromaidan. For unversed, during said protests, clashes were reported with police throughout Ukraine, especially at central square in Kyiv, which was occupied by protesters along with Kyiv City State ministration, and ors.

Euromaidan's protests were a huge success as Viktor Fedorovych Yanukovych, former president of Ukraine, was forced to resign and flee country. aforementioned documentary is based on Euromaidan protest, also called Maidan revolution, which resulted in worsening of ties between Russia and Ukraine.

During conversation with Deline,  director of 'Winter on Fire' stated, "That’s direction that y are fighting toward since Maidan … Believing in ir freedom, believing in freedom for future of ir own kids, it just proves that se people will t put ir weapons down. y will be fighting until last drop of blood."
