The Iskitimka River in Russia has undergone a disconcerting transformation, displaying a vivid beetroot-red hue. Local residents have expressed concerns, noting not only a dramatic alteration in the river's color but also a noticeable impact on the wildlife in the area. The situation has made the Iskitimka River, located in southern Russia and passing through an industrial city, a focal point for environmental concerns.

Urgent investigations are underway by officials in the Siberian Kemerovo area. The reluctance of ducks to swim in the river has heightened concerns among activists and the local community.

A video posted on the Instagram page @worlderlust depicts the alarming red color of the river.

Pictures and videos shared on social media illustrate the stark contrast between the previous clear state of the Iskitimka river and its current surreal red color. These visuals have heightened the urgency to identify the contaminant and address its impact.

A user wrote, "It feels like Mother Earth is bleeding due to all the pollution and damage we have inflicted upon her."

Another user commented, "It is heartbreaking to see what humans have done to this planet."
