Russian shelling destroys varsity in Kharkiv, Zelenskyy condemns attack as 'barbaric act'

The invading Russia's troops on June 6 launched attacks from their territory on Kharkiv's Novobavarskyi, Kyivskyi, and Osnovianskyi districts

As Russia-Ukraine conflict in Eastern Europe has entered its 134th day, inving Kremlin troops on June 6 launched attacks on Kharkiv's vodvorskiy, Kyivskyi, and Osvianskyi districts, leing to destruction of Pedagogical University. Oleh Syniehubov, he of Kharkiv Regional Military ministration, me se comments on Telegram. He said, “At about 01:00 a.m., (local time) Russians struck Osvianskyi district, having hit an open area.” 

Ukrainian official also revealed that an ministrative building was attacked and a few premises in vobavarskyi district were demolished. Whereas a higher education facility building in Kyivskyi district was destroyed by missile attacks, Ukrinform reported.

Furrmore, Russian invers have even fired missiles on districts of Kharkiv Region throughout  day, which includes Izium, Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, and Bohodukhiv. 

Zelenskyy terms Russian missile strike on Kharkiv university as 'definition of barbarism'

Speaking about strikes on Kharkiv region, embattled Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, “Today in Kharkiv, Pedagogical University was destroyed by a Russian missile strike - main building, lecture halls, university museum, scientific library,” as per a statement from Ukraine’s President Office. He furr stated, “This characterises Russian invasion with 100% accuracy. When it comes to definition of barbarism, this strike fits bill most. Only an enemy of civilisation and humanity can do such things - strike missiles at a university, a pedagogical university.”

President said  attack has caused dam to a monument that stood on square in front of university. According to statement, it is second Hryhoriy Skovoroda memorial. Despite being buried with rubble, monument is still intact. ditionally, Skovoroda museum in Kharkiv area was destroyed by fire in May as a result of Russian bombardment. 

Russian missiles hit Kharkiv

Apart from this, Oleh Syniehubov on Monday morning said that inving forces fired missiles toward regional centre, which claimed lives of three people and injured six ors. He ded that a secondary school h also been targeted by attackers. Synehubov said in a Telegram post, "Unfortunately, in region in past 24 hours, three residents of vill of Bezruky of Derhachiv community died as a result of occupiers’ actions. Russians shelled vill using artillery. Six people were injured.”

According to media reports, Russia launches airstrikes against Kharkiv every morning, targeting commercial and residential buildings. On July 3, an early enemy bombardment resulted in one civilian death and four ditional injuries. 

Meanwhile, Zelenskyy said that it seemed as though Western artillery— weaponry y acquired from ir allies, began to function quite well. He ded that on depots and or key locations for occupiers' logistics, ir defenders inflict quite obvious dam. And as a result, Russian army's capacity for offense is severely diminished, Zelenskyy ted.
