US Senator Risch visits Hostomel & Irpin, condemns war crimes committed at Putin's behest

Amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, US Senator Jim visited the war-torn country and took a first-hand "glimpse" of Russia's brutal aggression.

As war batters Ukraine with each passing day with signs of conflict ceasing anywhere in sight, US Senator Jim Risch visited war-ravd country and took a first-hand glimpse of Russia's ruthless military aggression. According to statement released by Kyiv Regional Military ministration on Telegram, he was accompanied by he of Ukrainian Military, Oleksiy Kuleba. As per statement, duo visited Hostomel and Irpin and took te of destruction of settlements and aftermath of offences perpetrated by Russian troops.  delegation also visited Antov airport, where Russian military destroyed world's largest cargo aeroplane Mriya, during onset of conflict.

Besides, US Senator also visited Irpin and Bucha, he both deunced barbaric gecide of civilians. It was same place where bodies of more than 400 people were found in April this year. Earlier last week, US Attorney General Merrick Garland also visited war-torn country and got a closer look at evidence of war crimes executed by Russian forces since onset of brutal war. He assured Kyiv to help pinpoint, apprehend, and prosecute individuals entangled in war crimes. According to statement released by US Department of Justice, Garland met with Ukrainian Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova, and he anunced creation of a squ which will look after accountability of war crimes. Lauding efforts of Ukrainian people in upholding rule of law, US Attorney General anunced extra assistance to war-torn Ukraine in identifying war crimes and prosecuting those involved in atrocities.

According to Garland, formation of War Crimes Accountability Team will help in centralising and strengning Justice Department in collecting evidence related to crimes and or atrocities in Ukraine. team will also help investigators to share wide-ranging technical assistance, including operational assistance and vice regarding criminal prosecutions, evidence collection, forensics, and relevant legal analysis. Furr, he maintained that team will also scrutinise killing and wounding of US journalists in war-ravd country.

It is worth mentioning Russia initiated a full-fledged war against Ukraine nearly two days after Vlimir Putin signed a decree recognising independence of breakaway regions Donetsk and Luhansk. Putin's action came despite West's repetitive warning and speculations about his ill intention to inve Ukraine. On February 24, Russian troops started a military operation against Ukraine. Since n, it has been bombarding several cities in Ukraine, resulting in killing of thousands of civilians.
