Zelenskyy tells Russian troops to 'go home' as Kyiv launches counter-offensive in Kherson

As Ukraine has commenced its counter-offensive in Kherson, Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday asked the invading Russian troops to ‘go home’ if they want to survive

In a staunch warning to invers, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked Russian forces to leave Kyiv if y want to survive. warning comes as Ukraine has commenced its counter-offensive to retake city of Kherson. In his late night video dress, Zelenskyy said, “If y want to survive, it is time for Russian military to flee. Go home. If y do not listen to me, y will deal with our defenders, who will not stop until y liberate everything that belongs to Ukraine”.

He went on to say if invers are terrified to go back to ir home in Russia, n y might surrender. He assured that Kyiv will “guarantee m compliance with all norms of Geneva Conventions”.

Speaking about counteroffensive  by Ukrainian troops, he furr emphasised that Kyiv will retake regions of Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Crimea, and unquestionably all of ir sea territory in Black Sea and Sea of Azov-- from Zmiinyi Island to Kerch Strait-- from Russian forces. He claimed, “This will happen. This is ours. And just as our society understands it, I want occupiers to understand it, too.” He said that attackers will not have any place for m on Ukrainian territory.  

Ukraine's counter-offensive commenced in Kherson

Meanwhile, sourn military command of Ukraine on Monday declared that Kyiv has initiated its long-awaited counter-offensive to recapture Kherson. It is to mention that Russia captured Kherson region in early hours of February 24 when aggressive invasion started. Natalia Humeniuk, representative for sourn command, said that offensive operations have started in several directions, including in Kherson region, according to Ukrainian state television Suspline.

According to media reports, Ukraine is currently aiming to regain territory lost in souast after successfully resisting most of Russia's first invasion with exception of south and east. Recent strategic Ukrainian attacks on Russian fortifications, arsenals, and supply routes, including well-placed bridges, created foundation for present operation. 

However, except for declaring that offensive h begun, Humeniuk provided no operational details. Suspilne even cited Ukrainian official Volodymyr Litvinov as claiming that Ukrainian forces targeted Beryslav Machine-Building Plant in Kherson area, where Russian soldiers h gared supplies and personnel.

Although he gave no ditional explanation, Litvinov said that fire broke out at location. On August 29, Monday, residents of jacent city of Nova Kakhovka—which Kyiv's troops routinely target—were told to leave ir places of employment and go to bomb shelters.
