Meeting starts without Pakistan Foreign Minister
This was supposed to be an informal luncheon meeting with all SAARC member nations in attendance. However, event commenced without presence of Pakistan. Qureshi entered meeting only after Jaishankar left venue - a display similar to his boycott of OIC recently as late former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj was invited as chief guest. Since last few years, India has me persistent efforts to isolate Pakistan in every possible multilateral forum over terrorism it continuously perpetrates from its soil. Recently, India invited leers of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Ecomic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) for PM Modi's swearing-in ceremony in May 2019. This was in contrast to 2014 when PM h extended invitation to SAARC leership inste. BIMSTEC includes most nations that are SAARC constituents, though t Pakistan.
