San Diego Zoo Safari Park has a new baby — a white rhi conceived through artificial insemination.

park says female sourn white rhi was born Thursday to an 11-year-old mor named Amani.

calf is walking, nursing well and bonding with her mor.

She’s 100th sourn white rhi to be born at park and second conceived through artificial insemination.

first, Edward, was born to a different mor in July.

zoo says births using frozen sperm are part of efforts to develop kwledge needed to save a subspecies called rrn white rhi. Only two currently remain and both are female.

Several or rhi species also are being pushed to toward extinction.
