Sheikh Hasina: Rohingya crisis and climate change are major challenges
Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina stated that her country was currently dealing with two major challenges- Rohingya crisis and the adverse impact of climate change.

Speaking at plenary session of 18th n-aligned Movement (NAM) in Baku, Azerbaijan on Friday, October 26, Banglesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stated that her country was currently dealing with two major challenges- Rohingya crisis and verse impact of climate change. She me se remarks during session titled ‘Upholding Bandung Principles to ensure concerted and equate response to challenges of contemporary world’. She contended that Rohingya crisis h potential to destabilise Banglesh and or countries of world. Hasina opined that voluntary return of Rohingyas to ir homes in Rakhine state was only solution to crisis. Furrmore, she said that problem h its roots in Myanmar.

Banglesh PM remarked, “We’re currently hosting over 1.1 million Rohingyas. It has potential to destabilise our country and beyond. We’re constrained to seek support of international community in resolving crisis. Voluntary return of Rohingyas to ir homes in Rakhine state with safety, security, and dignity is only solution to crisis.” She ded, “Thus, its solution has to be found inside Myanmar.”
Hasina talks about climate change
Hasina observed that despite contributing very little to global warming, Banglesh was suffering heavily from its impacts. It is one of most disaster-prone countries in world, facing risk of cyclones, floods, and earthquakes. According to a recent study conducted by UNICEF, environmental disasters linked to climate change are threatening lives and futures of more than 19 million children in Banglesh. Similarly, it ranks first in world in terms of vulnerability as per USAID. Subsequently, she called upon developed countries to respect UN Framework on Climate Change.

“ international response to climate change, particularly that of developed countries, must, refore, fully respect UN Framework Convention on Climate Change,” Bangleshi premier remarked.
