Ouwehands Zoo where cub was born on May 1 distributed first pictures and video from maternity den where mor Wu Wen cuddled, embraced and fed fast-growing cub. As Wu Wen was carrying cub around in her mouth, den was alive with yelps of trepidation.

Around 420 pandas live in captivity in zoos and reserves, majority within China, while an estimated 1,864 live in wild.
