'Soul' and Japanese anime 'Demon Train' hold top spots at the South Korean box office

For past two weeks, it is se two films that have dominated box office in South Korea. Both films have garnered successive weekends with a few mir setbacks. Soul has been witnessing a drop in sales; however, despite COVID conditions, films remain strong at box office. According to Variety, most recent collection of film was around $3.63 million. film dropped from its previous collection record of $3.92 million approximately.

Soul has been seeing a score decline since release however it has held top spot with Japanese anime film. Since its release, Soul has earned $9.98 million and counting since time of its initial release on 20 January. On or hand, Demon Slayer or Demon Train saw an increase in score by a staggering 35%. It was reported by news portal mentioned above that Demon train went from $879,000 to $1.19 million gaining $3.67 million since its release. Demon train anime was released in January as well however it only hit atres a few days later after Soul on 27 January. Both films have stayed firm on South Korean box office despite new releases.

most recent new release came from Liam Neeson in film Honest Thief. However, film stands well at Korean Box office at a distant third place. movie saw an increase in 7.7% shares during weekend and collected close to $428,000 approximately at box office. South Korean box office, however, lost a major film to OTT platform, when Sweepers released exclusively online. film is based on an astromical venture and was touted as first Opera for Korea. film grew immensely popular and became highlight of holiday season last year. Unfortunately, film saw a number of changes in terms of films release date which me things a bit difficult for movie. Eventually, film went to Netflix exclusively.
