South Korea extends COVID restrictions till Oct 17 amid resurgence of cases

South Korea has extended the social distancing rules till Oct 17 in the wake of the rapid resurgence of COVID cases including the ban on dining out after 10 pm.

South Korea has extended social distancing rules till October 17 in wake of rapid resurgence of COVID-19 cases including a ban on dining out after 10 pm. Coronavirus cases in country are witnessing an uptick with registration of at least 2,000 cases each day for last week marking an increase of about 42 per cent in just a week. country has recorded 2,486 new COVID-19 cases on September 30, as per Korea Disease Control and Prevention ncy (KCDC).

Meanwhile, daily aver has exceeded 2,635 in past week which is also highest-ever level and also double of month before. Coronavirus hotspots in South Korea include capital Seoul along with its neighbouring regions. In wake of COVID-19 situation in country, South Korean officials, as per Crisis24 report have banned garings of more than four people and only private garings of up to eight in most locations are allowed if 50 per cent of m are fully vaccinated.

In most parts of country, people who have received just a single shot of COVID-19 vaccine are t required to wear a facemask except when y are on public transport, indoor public areas or in large garings. Additionally, among restrictions is facilitation of staggered commuting and lunch timings for employers with over 50 workers. officials have reportedly recommended companies to allow up to 20 per cent of staff to telecommute. 

South Korea to adopt 'with Corona' strategy

Meanwhile, South Korean Minister of Health and Welfare Kwon Deok-cheol said on September 28 that government is planning to devise a plan for a phased return to rmalcy and for same, it has recommended ‘With Corona’ strategy.

During an inviting debate hosted at Korea Artist Center in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, Kwon said, “Considering or countries with high vaccination rates, we are reviewing wher to maintain current social distancing system. It is quite difficult for people to continue to comply with current quarantine restrictions." Kwon said that because immulogical impact develops two weeks after vaccination, y are considering using 'With Corona' system starting in early vember.
