As many as 177 people were killed after a plane with 181 passengers onboard crashed in South Korea on Sunday. The plane drove off the runway and hit into a wall at the Muan International Airport in South Korea, news agency AP, citing Yonhap news agency, reported.

Boeing model of Jeju Air plane has history of accidents
he Boeing air plane model 737-800, manufactured in 2009, has a history of accidents, according to The Korea Times.
The plane model operated by China Eastern Airlines crashed into a mountain near Wuzhou, China, killing all 132 passengers and crew on board in March 2022.
In April 2024, a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800 experienced an engine issues during takeoff, although no passengers died.

The United Arab Emirates on Sunday released an official statement expressing its solidarity and sincere condolences to South Korea for the Jeju Air plane crash which left 179 people dead.

Jeju airlines crash being the deadliest on South Korean soil
The crash of the Boeing 737-800 at Muan International Airport marks the first fatal accident for the country's largest budget airline, Jeju Air, which has been operating since 2005. Jeju Air is South Korea's third-largest carrier by passenger volume, following Korean Air Lines and Asiana Airlines.
South Korea's previous deadliest aviation disaster occurred in 2002 when an Air China Boeing 767-200 crashed into a hillside near Busan, a southeastern port city. The tragedy claimed 129 lives and left many others injured.
