The creators of South Park issued a mock apology to China following the National Basketball Association's statement of regret over the Houston Rockets' owner's tweet backing protesters in Hong Kong. The makers, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, took a dig at the Association for apologizing to China. Their mock apology said, "Like the NBA, we welcome the Chinese censors into our homes and into our hearts". The social media post also said, "We too love money more than freedom and democracy". NBA's Daryl Morey's original tweet was 'Fight for Freedom. Stand with Hong Kong' which he deleted later on.

The original tweet by Morey was condemned by a lot of Chinese companies who are also the partners of the NBA. As per reports by foreign media, the Chinese government blocked South Park from airing in his territory either on television or the internet. A previous episode of South Park mocked China for its censorship. The makers with their mock apology stated that they do not find the apology by NBA right. The American sitcom revolves around four young schoolboys living in South Park who set out on different adventures.
