Coronavirus scare: Spain makes wearing masks a compulsory thing in public spaces

New legislation has come into force in Spain that makes the use of protective masks obligatory for people over 6 years old as the new coronavirus pandemic continues to spread worldwide.

New legislation has come into force in Spain that makes the use of protective masks obligatory for people over 6 years old as the new coronavirus pandemic continues to spread worldwide. The use of masks will be now be necessary when walking along the street, in parks and public gardens; also it will now have to be worn inside public buildings.

In private spaces open to the public, for example a shop, the use will be obligatory if the social distance of two metres (yards) cannot be respected. The new ruling affects approximately 45 million people.The type of mask required has not been specified. Maria, an IT worker called wearingmarks a necessary thing for the people. "Well I think it is necessary because I have been going to closed spaces like supermarkets and there are still people who are not wearing them. So I think that unless you obligate them they won't do it," said Maria. There are still people who are not wearing masks and ensuring the safety of all.

Carlos Garcia, a bank worker expresses his views on the same and wrote that wearing masks should be made an obligatory thing. "I think it is reasonable and I think it should have been obligatory a lot sooner. I think it has been very confusing: one day yes, one day no. I think we are going slowly with this, like with so many other things. So I think it should have been done a lot sooner. "
