Sri Lankan court drops corruption charges, travel ban against Rajapaksa
The Sri Lankan high court has lifted the overseas travel ban and declared the newly-elected President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa free from all the corruption charges.

Sri Lankan high court declared newly-elected President Gotabaya Rajapaksa free from all corruption charges and also has lifted overseas travel ban. court has furr released his impounded passport and decided to release Sri Lankan President from all indictments filed over alleged misappropriation of Rs 33.9 million in public funds for construction of D A Rajapaksa Memorial and Museum. court also reportedly ordered that all bondsmen who placed bonds on behalf of Rajapaksa to be released as well.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa won Sri Lanka Presidential elections on vember 17 marking return of family revered by Sinhalese Buddhist majority after victory over Tamil Tiger rebels. Rajapaksa spokesperson, Keheliya Rambukwella called it 'people's victory' and that sound policies put across by Rajapaksa have been 'well received by people' who led counting by 50.7 per cent while his main rival, Sajith Premasa h 43.8 per cent votes. Rajapaksa's party claimed victory and asked Sri Lankans to 'rejoice peacefully'.

Rajapaksa h also pledged to pardon military commanders in prison for violation of human rights during war. This has also le to fear escalation of ethnic tensions of Tamil struggle for an independent state under his ministration. Rajapaksa has also served as a powerful secretary in Ministry of Defence but has been accused of persecuting critics.

Rajapaksa to travel to India, Pakistan
newly elected president will be travelling to India on vember 29 at invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has also accepted Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s invitation to visit his country, confirmed Pakistan High Commission in Colombo. Imran Khan, in a telephonic conversation with Rajapaksa on vember 19 congratulated Sri Lankan president for getting elected for coveted post and extended an invitation to visit his country at his 'earliest convenience'.
