A recent lab experiment reportedly suggested that cats can spre dely coronavirus to or cats without any of m ever having symptoms. According to an international media outlet, scientists on May 13 said that experiment showed need for more research into wher virus can spre from people to cats to people again as health experts have been downplaying possibility.

American Veterinary Medical Association reportedly said that just because an animal can be deliberately infected in a lab does t mean it will easily be infected with that same virus under natural conditions. Furrmore, virus expert Peter Halfmann reportedly said that anyone concerned about that risk should use ‘common sense hygiene’. He suggested against kissing pets and also said that one should keep surfaces clean to cut chances of picking up any virus an animal might shed.

University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine reportedly led lab experiment and published result on New England Journal of Medicine.  scientists took samples of dely virus from a human patient and infected three cats with it. Each cat was n housed with ar cat that was free of infection. As per research, within five days, dely coronavirus was found in all six of exposed animals. researchers also ted that ne of cats ever showed any symptoms.

Human-cat-human transmission needs to be investigated

Halfmann said that re was sneezing, coughing and y never even h a high body temperature or lost any weight. He also ded that if a pet owner looked at m, y wouldn’t even have ticed anything. scientists in research wrote that lab experiment shows that re is a public health need to recognise and furr investigate potential chain of human-cat-human transmission.

While re is currently evidence of virus spreing from cats to people, last month, two pet cats in New York reportedly tested positive for dely coronavirus, becoming first domesticated animals in US to have virus. An earlier study also revealed that pet dogs and cats cant transmit disease to human, however, experiment by University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine has left researchers worried that infected animals could pass virus to many ors.
