Over 24,000 Syrian children opt to study Russian after govt adds it to school curriculum

The Syrian government recently added Russian to their school curriculum leading to approximately 24,000 youngsters learning the language of Syria’s ally.

Syrian government recently ded Russian to ir school curriculum leing to approximately 24,000 youngsters learning langu of Syria’s most powerful ally. In past, Russia has helped Syrian President Bashir al-Ass to win back territories it h lost to ISIS. 

Teachers are helping children to love langu

youngsters from all across Syria are w er to learn langu in order to travel to transcontinental country or in hope to work in Russian companies y expect to spring in Syria in near future. Gruates in langu who furr plan to teach it, attend classes in Moscow supervised by experts from Russian capital.

Omar al-Tawil, who is one of thousands learning Russian said that at first, he didn’t understand anything. He said that when he and his fellows first heard words y started laughing ding that he finds langu difficult. He also revealed that ir teachers are helping m to love langu.

Rwan Rahhal who is Coordinator of Russian langu in Syrian Education Ministry, said demand for classes outstrips supply. He said that y have more than 24,000 students who are currently learning langu and number is constantly increasing.

Rahhal also said that y cant expand furr unless y have more teachers. Russian is third optional foreign langu to be introduced in schools by  Syrian education ministry after English and French which were ded back in 2014.

Russian President Vlimir Putin me a rare visit to Syria on January 7 where he held talks with his Syrian counterpart, Bashar al-Ass, as reported by Syrian media. This also marks his first trip in war-hit country since his last visit to Khmeimim airbase in Latakia province in 2017.

Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin press secretary said that, in his conversation with Ass, Russian President ted that y can w say that a huge distance has been travelled towards statehood and country's territorial integrity.
