Taliban destroys statues from Afghanistan's cultural past declaring them 'un-Islamic'

Taliban, which has vowed to make Afghanistan the world's most pure Islamic- nation, on Wednesday, July 21 destroyed the horse statues In the Badakhshan area.

Taliban, which has vowed to make Afghanistan world's most pure Islamic- nation, on Wednesday, July 21, destroyed horse statues In Bakhshan area.  statues were built to entertain children, were destroyed on grounds that y were 'un-islamic'. Taliban's offensive acts against  Aghanistan civilians continue as many Afghan national forces and foreign forces are withdrawing from war-torn country.

pictures of smashed horse statues were released by Dr Qasim Wafayeza, an author based in Afghanistan who expressed his grief on how  course of time could t change Taliban. He uploed pictures on vandalised statues meant for children in 'Kishm of Bakhshan' on his Twitter handle.

Taliban officials, who h earlier assured UN delegation that cultural sanctity of Afghanistan will be preserved, resorted to extreme measures shortly after ir statement. Taliban, with its escalated wars with nation over deces w, holds more than 90 per cent of Afghanistan but is only recognized as Government by three countries, namely - Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.

President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani, in a statement at Special Operations Command Center in Kabul mentioned, Taliban wants to 'become a haven for insurgents' with its deep-rooted ties with Al-Qaeda and Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. He furr ded that it's time to prove that country will t surrender based on plans and opinions of ors. According to a news report, Ghani has pledged to provide any kind of support for Afghan special operation forces. leer also promised to dress needs of families of security personnel who lost ir lives in dely war.

Afghanistan has recently sent a high-ranking delegation to Doha for peace negotiations with Taliban. Reacting to this, Ashraf said motive of sending delegation was to show that Afghanistan has will for peace and y were rey to sacrifice for it. He ded that Taliban has clearly conveyed that y don't want any peace and that country should strive in its resolve furr. 

Post  American military drawdown, country's security forces are more susceptible to fall to terror group within months as  Taliban have alrey taken control of several districts across Afghanistan, according to US intelligence assessments. Afghan officials have furr accused Pakistan of harbouring Taliban terrorists and providing safety to m.
