Taliban's Mullah Baradar to be Afghanistan's new President as Ashraf Ghani resigns?

Taliban negotiators have moved to the Afghanistan presidential palace for a 'transfer' of power, with Mullah Baradar likely to become the new President

In a breaking development, Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani will tender his resignation as  government surrendered to Taliban forces in Kabul on Sunday. According to sources, Taliban negotiators have moved to Afghan presidential palace to prepare for a 'transfer' of power. Following talks between Afghan government and Taliban negotiators, an interim government led by Taliban has been announced. new Afghanistan government will reportedly be led by top Taliban leer Mullah Abdul Ghani Barar. As per sources, Mullah Barar has support of Qatar, which has been helping Taliban and Afghan govt negotiate. 

Taliban issues statement after entering Kabul

After infiltrating outskirts of Kabul, Taliban has issued a statement saying that y have no plans to take Afghan capital by force. Three Afghan officials have told AP that fighters were in districts of Kalakan, Qarabagh, and Paghman in capital.  Taliban's statement comes after Afghan Interior Ministry announced that  Taliban h begun entering  Afghan capital from all sides.

" Taliban instructs all its forces to stand at gates of Kabul, not to try to enter city. Till completion of transition process, security of Kabul city must be maintained. We do not intend to take revenge on anyone, all those who have served in military and civilian sectors in Kabul ministration are forgiven and safe. All should stay in ir own place and home and not try to leave country," stated Taliban.

Earlier today, Afghanistan's Acting Interior Minister Abdul Sattar Mirzakwal also announced that Kabul will not be attacked by Taliban and that transition will happen peacefully, as per Tolo news. He assured residents that security forces will ensure security of city.

With control over Mazar-e-Sharif, Taliban confined Ashraf Ghani-led government to center and east. Given this major leverage, nation failed to protect its capital.  militant group took over all border posts leing to Kabul, leaving only Kabul airport as remaining exit from war-torn nation. Helicopters were seen landing at US Embassy in Kabul as diplomatic vehicles began to leave compound after destroying sensitive documents.
