Teen Dies of Electrocution on Bus While Charging Phone in Malaysia

18-year-old Nur Asymawi Jasmadi died of electrocution in Malaysia on November 1 while charging his phone on a bus at Penang Sentral bus terminal, Butterworth.

Kuala Lumpur: A teenr in Malaysia died after being electrocuted while charging his phone on a bus. Eighteen-year-old Nur Asymawi Jasmi died on vember 1 at Penang Sentral bus terminal in Butterworth, shortly after boarding a bus heed to Kuala Lumpur.

assistant commissioner of police Anuar Abdul Rahman said that, teenr tried to use a socket on bus to charge his phone at around 6pm (local time).

Fellow passengers reportedly heard victim scream about ten minutes after he plugged in his phone to charger on bus. driver ted that teenr showed signs of severe electric shock, with ticeable burn marks on his left hand.

“An initial investigation revealed burn marks on victim’s left fingers, suspected to be from an electric shock while he was charging his phone,” assistant commissioner said in a statement.

Authorities concluded cause from melted charging cable and overheated mobile phone. Passengers, seeing foam coming from teenr's mouth, immediately called emergency services, which arrived at approximately 6:20 PM local time.

Paramedics prounced victim de shortly after arriving at scene, and an autopsy later confirmed that electrocution was cause of death.

Malaysian transport minister Anthony Loke said that department would form a special task force to investigate into incident that took place.

" transport ministry treats this electric shock incident, which tragically resulted in death of a teenr while he was charging his phone on express bus, with utmost seriousness," he said in a statement.

“ special task force will investigate cause of incident to ensure it does t recur and that safety of passengers will be guaranteed,” he ded.

He said task force would have three ncies, including Malaysian Institute of Ro Safety Research.
