Telangana NRI Suspiciously Drowns in Swimming Pool in USA’s Atlanta

Hyderabad: A Telangana NRI from Patharlaphad village in Suryapet district died after drowning at a community swimming pool in the United States Atlanta. It is being claimed that the deceased identified as Thapsi Praveen Kumar, who hailed from Atmakur (S) Mandal of Suryapet District, had fallen into the community swimming pool and drowned.

Reports suggested that Thapsi Praveen Kumar had been residing in the US for the last six years along with his wife Shanthi. He was employed as a teacher at an educational institution in Atlanta.

As per the information, the incident occurred over the weekend. Praveen’s family, residing in India, were informed about the tragic accident on Sunday evening by his wife.

The family members informed that Praveen went to the swimming pool around 8 pm for swimming. The family stated that according to the information they received, Praveen was not aware that the pool was deep. He reportedly jumped into it and soon started drowning. By the time help arrived, he was dead.

It is being said that Praveen finished his M.Sc in Chemistry from Osmania University and worked in several colleges in Hyderabad before leaving for the US.

Meanwhile, BRS MLA and former state Minister G Jagadish Reddy consoled the parents and assured all possible help. He said that he would contact the Ministry of External Affairs officials and try to bring the body to Hyderabad at the earliest.
