Thai elephants return to village after years due to coronavirus lockdown
Elephant handlers have suffered a huge blow due to coronavirus pandemic and the shut down of the economy, which has forced them to migrate with their animals.

Elephant handlers, also kwn as mahouts are an ethnic part of Thailand where for generations y have been rearing giant mammals for living. However, due to international travel ban, livelihoods of se mahouts have come under uncertainty and y fear that ir elephants would eventually die from starvation.

According to reports, about thousands of handlers and ir elephants have returned to ir vills in past two months. Media reports suggest that more than 90 elephants are living alongside 400 villrs, which has caused fear among people because of ir sometimes unpredictable temperament. villrs fear that se elephants can at any moment ransack ir homes and destroy crops and properties. re is also ar challenge that looms large on se mahouts as feeding 300 kilograms of plants each day to each elephant is t an easy task.

However, some villrs are also happy to see se elephants return to vill from tourist camps, where y regularly faced abuse. One of villrs while talking to media said that he was happy to see those elephants return home as he h t seen some of those elephants for years. man whose elephants have never worked in a tourist camp said that he grew up with some of those mammals who have returned home due to pandemic.
