Thai protesters defy police water cannons to deliver letters about political grievances
Thailand protestors tried to approach Bangkok's Grand Palace to deliver letters about their political grievances addressed to the country's king.

Pro-democracy demonstrations in Thailand intensified when protestors were confronted by riot police and sprayed by water canns on vember 8, as y tried to approach Bangkok’s Grand Palace in an attempt to deliver letters about ir political grievances. This was second time when water canns were used on protestors. protestors' demands include resignation of Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha, rewriting of constitution, whose amendments in recent years have been disrupted, as well as an end to harassment of state critics. One of most controversial demands posed by protestors is to reform monarch as it has been an uncontrollable institution for years.

Protests in Thailand
As a result of se protests, Prime Minister Prayuth, during a televised speech offered to lift state of emergency only if “re are violent incidents”. A few days back, re was also a state of emergency declared to enable police to break up groups garing outside PM’s office. Thai government said that urgent measures were needed to maintain peace and order. officials furr justified emergency measures partly on grounds of some protesters disturbing a royal motorce during a mass rally in Bangkok. demonstrators have been calling for resignation of Thai Prime Minister, a former army chief who h seized power in 2014 coup before he was appointed as premier after controversial elections in 2019.

As a part of protests, Thailand protesters marched to German Embassy and appealed to Angela Merkel's government to investigate if King Maha Vajiralongkorn was ruling Asian country from German soil during his extended trips to Bavaria. According to reports, about 5,000-10,000 protesters defied warnings from police and authorities and marched to German embassy. representative of protesters reportedly presented embassy officials with a letter asking German authorities to investigate activities of Thai king and to determine if royal exercised political powers while in Germany which would be a breach of Germany’s territorial sovereignty.
