Thailand, on vember 27, signed an agreement with AstraZeneca to secure a supply of its COVID-19 vaccine and to start local production with techlogy from British-Swedish firm. deal was me after AstraZeneca anunced that its vaccine, developed in collaboration with University of Oxford showed 70 per cent efficiency against coronavirus. According to Bangkok Post, vaccine would be locally developed by Siam Bioscience with support of AstraZeneca.
exact quantity of doses has t been revealed yet. However, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, on vember 25 said that contract was for purchase 26 million doses, eugh for 13 million people, Bangkok Post reported. AstraZeneca meanwhile, has anunced global trials of its vaccine candidate AZD1222.

Australia starts manufacturing vaccine
Australia's CSL Limited has commenced manufacturing of AstraZeneca-Oxford COVID-19 vaccine. AZD1222 COVID-19 vaccine candidate is being manufactured at company's vanced manufacturing facility in Bromeows, Victoria. manufacturing process starts even as candidate is currently at its final phase of trials and has t been approved by regulators in Australia.

CSL Limited has separate contracts with AstraZeneca and Australian government to manufacture approximately 30 million doses of AZD1222 vaccine candidate, which is expected to be released in country by mid-2021, depending on outcome of trials and approval. CSL will release eight large scale batches of vaccine drug substance. After safety and efficacy of vaccine are proven, it is anticipated that per person will receive two doses each.
