Indian-Canadian Youtube star Lilly Singh on Tuesday thanked International pop star Rihanna for tweeting in support of the ongoing farmers' protests in India

Indian-Canian Youtube star Lilly Singh on Tuesday thanked American musician Rihanna for tweeting in support of ongoing farmers' protest in India. Rihanna took to her official Twitter handle to share a CNN article about farmers' protests in India, asking "why aren't we talking about this?". To which talk show host, who is popularly kwn as Superwoman, replied and thanked Rihanna for speaking in support of farmers as she shared a post with hashtag '#IStandWithFarmers".

Lilly Singh h shown similar solidarity with farmers' protests last week after thousands of people and tractors marched on ros of New Delhi on January 26, day India was celebrating its 72nd Republic Day.

Earlier, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut slammed Rihanna for tweeting about ongoing farmers' protest in India. Ranaut called Rihanna a "fool" for posting about issue without kwing nitty-gritty of situation. Ranaut furiously commented on post saying one is talking about it because y are t protesters, claiming y are "terrorists" who are trying to divide India.

Farmers protests

For over two months, thousands of farmers have been protesting at Delhi borders seeking repeal of three farm laws passed by Parliament. At present, Supreme Court has stayed implementation of farm laws and formed a committee to resolve ongoing impasse.

On January 26, farmers' rally took a violent turn after groups of farmers broke police barrices at Delhi border to enter national capital before allocated time. Apart from this, some protesters did t follow pre-decided routes and inste proceeded towards Central Delhi. As per visuals, some of protesters vandalised a DTC bus and drove tractors to deliberately run over police personnel at ITO in central Delhi.
