Top Australian Radio host Alan Jones Arrested Over Sex Abuse Claims

Alan Jones, a well-known Australian rio host, has been arrested in connection with allegations of indecent assault, groping, and inappropriate touching of multiple young men, local media reported on Monday.  

New South Wales police stated that child abuse squ detectives arrested an 83-year-old man in Sydney as part of an investigation into offences allegedly committed between 2001 and 2019. While police did not name suspect, reports identify Jones as accused.  

Jones, 83, gained fame hosting Sydney’s popular breakfast show on 2GB rio for nearly two deces before leaving station in 2020. Known for his conservative views and sharp questioning of prime ministers, Jones has also faced several defamation lawsuits throughout his career.  

allegations against Jones first came to light last year when Sydney Morning Herald reported that police were investigating claims of indecent assault involving young men. Jones, who has previously denied similar allegations, has not commented on recent arrest.  

A former coach of Australia’s national rugby union team and a speechwriter for former Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, Jones has been off-air since leaving 2GB and h moved to working with a digital start-up. Investigations into allegations are ongoing.
