Pennsylvania: An assassination bid on former US President Donald Trump during one of his rallies in Pennsylvania has shocked the world.
The Republican presidential candidate, who escaped death closely, was shot at, by a lone shooter who has been identified by the investigative agencies.
FBI Shares First Photo Of Shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks
Hours after the attack on Trump which killed a spectator and injured two others, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) identified the shooter as the 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
While there were multiple photos of the shooter that were circulating on social media, they weren't confirmed by the investigative agency.
In a recent development, the FBI has released the first photo of Thomas Matthew Crooks.
20-Year-Old Shooter Smiles In The Camera
The photograph shows the young shooter wearing glasses and smiling in the camera. Thomas Crooks is wearing a black-collared t-shirt.
On the shooter's confirmation, FBI had released a statement saying, “The FBI has identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the subject involved in the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump on July 13, in Butler, Pennsylvania.”
Who Was Thomas Matthew Crooks?
- The suspected shooter who was killed by the Secret Service agents for attacking Trump has been identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks.
- The 20-year-old was a resident of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania which was about 40 miles south of the Butler rally.
- Crooks has used an AR-Style rifle which was recovered by the law enforcement officials from the site of shooting.
- According to reports, Thomas Matthew Crooks had positioned himself almost 130 yards away from the stage where Trump was standing for the rally; he had fired gunshots from the roof.
- While Trump is fine now, a member of the audience was killed in the shooting and two others were injured by the gunshots fired by Crooks.
- The motive behind the attack has not yet been determined and an investigation for the same is underway.
- Crooks was apparently shot in the head after he tried killing the former US president; the Security Service killed the shooter at the spot.
