Trump's Hush Money Case Proceedings Paused After US Election Win

A New York state judge temporarily paused proceedings in Trump’s hush money case following his presidential win, according to court documents released.

New Delhi: A New York state judge has temporarily paused proceedings in criminal case against Donald Trump involving hush money paid to an ult star, soon after he won presidential poll, according to court documents released on Tuesday, reported Reuters.

Judge Juan Merchan was expected to decide by Tuesday wher to overturn Trump's conviction, after a Supreme Court ruling in July on presidential immunity. Trump was also set for sentencing on vember 26.

Prosecutors from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office asked Judge Merchan for a delay in an email on Sunday, citing Trump’s vember 5 US presidential election win and his upcoming inauguration in January 2025.

prosecutors ted, ‘se are unprecedented circumstances.’ In response, Judge Merchan granted request and paused all proceedings in case until vember 19.

In May , Donald Trump became first former US President to be convicted of felony crimes, as a New York jury found him guilty on all 34 charges related to a scheme to illegally influence 2016 election through a hush money payment to ult actress Stormy Daniels, who alleged y h an affair.

However, Trump, 78, pleed t guilty and denied any wrongdoing in case.
