Trump Wins US Election 2024: How World Leaders Reacted

Washington: In a close and hard-fought race, Republican candidate Donald Trump has defeated Democratic contender Kamala Harris , becoming the 47th president of the United States. Trump’s win was sealed after he secure Pennsylvania, sparking a wave of congratulations from world leaders and prominent international figures.

PM Modi Extends Wishes to Trump

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to newly elected American President, calling Trump his ‘friend.’ Modi wrote, "Heartiest congratulations my friend @realDonaldTrump on your historic election victory. As you build on the successes of your previous term, I look forward to renewing our collaboration to further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership."

Netanyahu Calls Trump's Victory ‘Greatest Comeback’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in a close U.S. presidential election. Netanyahu took to social media to send his wishes, writing in a post addressed to Trump and his wife, Melania, he said, "Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback! Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America."

Ukrainian President Congratulates Trump 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also congratulated Trump, expressing optimism about the future of U.S.-Ukraine relations under his leadership. Zelenskyy recalled their previous meeting in September, where they discussed the "Victory Plan" and ending Russian aggression against Ukraine.

He wrote in a long X post, " "Congratulations to @realDonaldTrump on his impressive election victory!"

"I recall our great meeting with President Trump back in September, when we discussed in detail the Ukraine-U.S. strategic partnership, the Victory Plan, and ways to put an end to Russian aggression against Ukraine," he added.

Macron Wishes Trump for Historic Return

French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday congratulated Donald Trump for his "historic return to the White House". 

Macron posted on X: “Ready to work together as we were able to do during four years. With your convictions and mine. In respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity.”

El Salvador's President Calls Trump ‘President-Elect'

El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele was the first world leader to extend his congratulations, calling Trump the ‘president-elect.’

In an X Post, he wrote, "Congratulations to the President-Elect of the United States of America, @realDonaldTrump. May God bless and guide you," 

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was among the first world leaders to extend wishes to Donald Trump as he addressed a rally in Florida to claim victory in the US presidential race on Wednesday.

Starmer said the "special relationship" between the UK and the US would continue to prosper under the new American administration after Trump clinched crucial battleground states in the US overnight.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban also praised Trump’s success, calling it ‘biggest comeback’ in an X Post. Orban has been a vocal supporter of Trump’s bid for the White House.

He wrote,"The biggest comeback in US political history! Congratulations to President @realDonaldTrump on his enormous win. A much needed victory for the World!".

Dutch politician Geert Wilders joined in, celebrating on social media. “Congratulations President Trump! Congratulations America! Never stop, always keep fighting and win elections!” Wilders wrote on X, signaling the strong global reactions as Trump prepares to return to the presidency.

German Chancellor Olaz Scholf

German Chancellor Olaz Scholf also congratulated Donald Trump and said, “I congratulate @Realdonaldtrump on his election as US President. Germany and the USA have been working together successfully for a long time to promote prosperity and freedom on both sides of the Atlantic. We will continue to do so for the benefit of our citizens.”

Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese posted on X and said, “Congratulations to President Donald Trump on his election victory. Australians and Americans are great friends and true allies. Working together, we can ensure the partnership between our nations and peoples remains strong into the future.”

UAE President Mohamed Bin Zayed Congratulates

UAE President Mohamed Bin Zayed Congratulates Donald Trump On Election Victory and said, “I congratulate Donald Trump and his Vice President James David Vance on winning the recent presidential elections, wishing them success in serving the friendly American people. For more than five decades, the UAE and the United States have enjoyed close strategic relations and an advanced development partnership centered on the economy of the future, and we look forward to continuing to strengthen this partnership in the coming period for the benefit of our two countries and peoples.”

We look forward to reaching together to establish peace, maintain regional peace and stability, and strengthen the strategic partnership relations between Egypt and the United States and their friendly peoples. Former Bnagladesh Prime Minister also congratulated Donald Trump oh his victory through a letter. Her political party, Bangladesh Awami League shared it on X in which she recalled with fondness her several meetings and interactions as Prime Minister with @realDonaldTrump and @MELANIATRUMP during his first presidency. She hoped that under his second presidency, the bilateral relations between the friendly countries of Bangladesh and the United States of America would be further strengthened.
