Boris Johnson causing 'heartbreak' due to last minute COVID-19 guidelines change: Minister

Stamer accused UK PM Boris Johnson of ‘offering confusion and not certainty’ with respect to the handling of the pandemic at a crucial time of the year

UK’s Labour leer, Sir Keir Starmer, on December 19 said that Prime Minister Boris Johnson was causing a ‘heartbreak’ for families ahe of Christmas due to a last-minute change in COVID-19 guidelines. Stamer accused PM Johnson of ‘offering confusion and t certainty’ with respect to handling of pandemic at a crucial time of year, ding that he h dismissed scientists’ concerns about festivities get-toger, n scrapped rules just three days into anuncement.

According to British media reports, Starmer, at House of Commons alleged that Johnson igred scientific vice as he h anunced relaxations despite mounting concerns about rising COVID-19 trajectory across several states in UK.

Earlier, UK’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson h chidded Starmer for attempting to ‘cancel Christmas’ for people. Starmer reminded, that UK PM h issued an visory to families to celebrate ‘merry little Christmas’, while he was being challenged by opposition and w he was ‘going to rip off plans’. This comes as UK Prime Minister anunced strict tier 4 restrictions on households across London and South East, and 'bubble policy' for rest of England that allows at least three households to meet on day of Christmas. 

dressing a Downing Street press conference, Johnson said that anyone in 'Tier 4' area must t mix with people from outside during festivities. He also anunced that all nessential services such as gyms, cinemas, shops, salons, gaming centers, etc will remain shut. Johnson’s abrupt anuncement came as a new variant of coronavirus was detected in South East that contributed to increasing number of COVID-19 cases.

Ministers say PM 'acted too late' 

Meanwhile, Johnson overturned guidelines across all 'Tier 3' areas, stating, that at time of Christmas 'Tier 4' restrictions will apply in  South East—Kent, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey exempt Waverley, Gosport, Havant, Portsmouth, Ror, Hastings and across all 32 boroughs and City of London. guidelines also applied to East of England’s Bedford, Central Bedford, Milton Keynes, Luton, Peterborough, Hertfordshire, and Essex. Liberal Democrat leers reportedly accused Johnson of acting too late, for being indecisive and igring warnings earlier. Leer Ed Davey alleged that UK PM acted too late, and totally failed  country.
