'Maintain spirit', says Boris Johnson, in first public address post COVID recovery

Speaking outside Downing Street, he said: “And so it follows that this is moment of opportunity, this is moment when we can press home our vant, it is also moment of maximum risk. I kw re will be many people looking at our apparent success, and beginning to wonder wher w is time to go easy on those social-distancing measures."
"And I kw how hard and stressful it has been to give up, even temporarily, those ancient and basic freedoms, t seeing friends, t seeing loved ones, working from home, managing kids, worrying about your job and your firm.”

He ded, "If you can keep going in way that you have kept going so far, and if we can show same spirit of unity and determination as we have all shown in past six weeks, n I have absolutely doubt that we will beat this toger."
Johnson, 55, spent a week at St Thomas’ Hospital, including three nights in intensive care, where he was given oxygen and watched around clock by medical workers. After he was released on April 12, he recorded a video mess thanking staff at hospital for saving his life.

Johnson indicated that any loosening of lockdown would happen in sts, as authorities “begin grually to refine ecomic and social restrictions and one by one to fire up engines of this vast U.K. ecomy.” However, volume of ro traffic has begun to creep up, and businesses including construction sites and home-supply stores have begun to reopen after introducing social distancing measures.
