Captain Tom gets presents on eve of 100th birthday

Captain Tom Moore was presented with gifts from Duke of Wellington's Regiment's Regimental Association on Wednesday, eve of his centenary.

Moore, UK war veteran who raised more than 29 million pounds (36 million US dollars) for National Health Service, received a cake and a statue to mark occasion at his home in Bedfordshire.

veteran started walking laps in his garden as part of a humble fundraiser for NHS, hoping to raise 1,000 pounds by his 100th birthday, but surprised himself by generating millions of pounds.

As his fundraising efforts hit helines, Ministry of Defence's Medal Office realised that veteran was missing a medal that he should have received at end of WW2 - Defence Medal 1939-1945.

Moore, who was born in Keighley, served with 8th Battalion Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment, which is w part of Yorkshire Regiment.
