US President Donald Trump may have broken royal protocol on Monday when he appeared to lightly touch Queen Elizabeth II during the state-banquet dinner amid his UK visit.  Touching Queen Elizabeth II has long been considered one of the greatest taboos and is an unwritten rule about how people are expected to behave around the royal family. One Should not touch the queen unless she offers her hand first.

After giving a glowing speech about the courage of British soldiers on D-Day and the close ties the US and the UK share, Mr Trump proceeded to briefly and gently put his left hand out behind the Queen. However, the Queen seemed unperturbed by the unprecedented gesture

Meanwhile, in attendance at the fancy dinner were Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, recently resigned Prime Minister Theresa May, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and more.

White appears to be the theme of the night, considering that Queen Elizabeth II, Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla, and Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine were all dressed in white for the lavish state banquet at Buckingham Palace.

Trump and the Queen exchanged toasts shortly after they arrived at their seats at the state banquet. The US President sat to the right of the Queen at the horseshoe-shaped table. Hailing the Queen as a "great, great woman", Trump said during his address:

"As we honour our shared victory and heritage, we affirm the common values that will unite us long into future: freedom, sovereignty, self-determination, the rule of law and reference for the rights given to us by almighty God," he said.

"From the second world war to today, her majesty has stood as a constant symbol of these priceless traditions," Trump said at the start of a state banquet. "She has embodied the spirit of dignity, duty, and patriotism that beats proudly in every British heart", he added.
