Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle charmed pupils at an East London school as she joined them for a special assembly ahead of International Women's Day.

She joined pupils at the Robert Clack Upper School in Dagenham for a debating session, listened to speeches about local female labour activists and invited a confident male student to the stage to explain why International Women's Day was important for him.

Markle urged students to "rally together" to make sure International Women's Day felt like "every day of the year."

Prince Harry and Meghan stunned Britain in January with an abrupt announcement that they wanted to step back from royal duties.
