Opposition party leer Keir Starmer is facing a revolt from Labour frontbenchers over his decision to back UK PM Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal, Guardian reported. Starmer has said that he voted for Brexit because according to him it was t credible for main opposition party to abstain when Commons votes on deal on December 30. He also ded that it was a “binary choice” between deal on offer or -deal and furr called for Labour MPs to vote for Johnson’s deal.
However, show ministers warned that y are set to resign and defy a three-line whip when House of Commons votes on deal on Wednesday. Labour MPs urged Starmer to abstain in vote and said that he would be unable to hold government responsible for its ecomic consequences if Labour h supported it. ‘Johnson’s deal is full of holes’
w, while Starmer has said that Labour will vote for Brexit deal, several frontbenchers are preparing to step down over his decision. According to Guardian, Show Cabinet members, including show chancellor, Anneliese Dodds, show chief secretary to Treasury, Bridget Phillipson, and show international tre secretary, Emily Thornberry, are kwn to have expressed concerns about idea of supporting deal. However, y are still expected to abide by collective responsibility.

While taking to Twitter, Dodds said that deal would have a “major negative impact” and it would also t have “exact same benefits”. Several MPs also warned party that y plan to vote against deal in keeping with ir constituents’ opposition to Brexit, with some saying that dozens could revolt. y called Johnson’s deal “full of holes” and furr ded that y don’t understand Starmer’s position as deal is going to get through on Tory votes alone.

However, Starmer insisted that “leership is about taking tough decisions”. He ded that it is t credible for Labour to be on sidelines, that too during a moment of such national significance. Even though he called Johnson’s deal “thin,” he also ded that it is about being a “responsible, serious opposition”.
w, both Houses of Parliament will be recalled on December 30, with Commons sitting from 9:30am (local time) and Lords from on, to push through a bill implementing deal, potentially in a single day. It is worth ting that with Labour’s support, even a significant rebellion by Eurosceptic MPs on Tory benches, will t prevent deal from passing.
