Macron urges UK to make more efforts as Johnson asks to get ready for 'no deal' Brexit

French President Emmanuel Macron put the onus on Britain to make more effort in order to secure a post-Brexit trade deal amid EU summit in Brussels.

French President Emmanuel Macron put onus on Britain to make more effort in order to secure a post-Brexit tre deal amid EU summit in Brussels. Speaking to reporters after summit, Macron said that United Kingdom needs to make moves since y wanted to leave European Union. France has been amant over UK fishing waters access and has frequently stated its demand.

27-member bloc has been demanding access to UK fishing waters but UK has called it incompatible with Britain’s future status as an independent coastal state. David Frost, an EU viser to British PM, h said that UK is fully committed to agreeing to fishing provisions in line with Political Declaration but can t agree on a deal that is “unbalanced” and against interests of UK fishing industry.

French president insisted that country “will t sacrifice” its fishermen but rey to continue to talk in good faith. Macron’s comment was in line with European Council statement in which y called on UK to make necessary moves on key issues of interest to EU to make an agreement possible. European Council called upon Member States, Union institutions and all stakeholders to step up ir work on preparedness and reiness at all levels and for all outcomes, including that of agreement.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also said that UK must prepare for prospect of post-Brexit free tre agreement with EU. In a statement from Downing Street, Johnson said that he was making a judgment call as deline for end transition period was only 10 weeks away and Council meeting failed to come up with promising answers.

“We always knew that re would be change on January 1 whatever of relationship we h. And so w is time for our businesses to get rey, and for hauliers to get rey, and for travellers to get rey,” Johnson said in a statement.
