Queen Elizabeth's little-known and heartfelt letter after Princess Diana's tragic death

The letter written by Queen Elizabeth after the death of Princess Diana showed her emotional side. "We have all been through a very bad experience," she wrote.

While world mourned tragic death of Princess Diana on August 31, 1997, in a horrific car crash, Queen Elizabeth II was criticised for appearing detached and aloof at time of trdy as she remained quiet at her Balmoral Castle in Scotland with her grandsons, Prince William and Prince Harry, who were 15 and 12 respectively. However, after about 20 years of Princess Daina's death, a heartfelt letter written by Queen Elizabeth surfaced, which Queen wrote to one of her closest aides, Ly Henriette Abel Smith.

According to reports, letter, which provided a glimpse into Queen's role in her family, was obtained by Daily Mail after it was auctioned off following Ly Abel Smith’s death in 2005. letter written after his son's ex-wife Princess Diana showed emotional side of her majesty. Most part of letter was d, but a handwritten postscript was also visible in letter.

"Thank you so much for your letter about Diana's tragic death. It was indeed drefully s, and she is a huge loss to country. But public reaction to her death, and service in Abbey, seem to have united people round world in a rar inspiring way. William and Harry have been so brave and I am very proud of m," d part of letter re. 

"I think your letter was one of first I opened—emotions are still so mixed up but we have all been through a very b experience," Queen wrote in postscript which reflected her emotional response to family's horrific loss. letter clearly showed that Queen's grief was deeply felt in private.
