Raab: "Wrong to publish exit strategy now."

Britain's Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said on Wednesday it would be wrong to set out plans for an exit strategy without new recommendations from a government scientific advisory group.

"He's asked for a time frame and a date, we can't give it until we have the SAGE evidence," Raab said in the House of Commons, responding to a question by opposition leader Sir Keir Starmer.

SAGE or Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies provides scientific and technical advice to support government decision makers during emergencies.

Starmer was asking the government to publish an exit strategy and be open with the British public about what follows lockdown.

He said the UK risked "falling behind" other countries if the government does not publish their plan.

"I'm not asking for a time frame, the Government says it can't give a time frame, I accept that and we support the Government on that. I said I wouldn't ask the impossible and I won't, what I'm asking for is for the Government to be open with the British people about what comes next," Starmer stressed.
