As British government’s ‘Eat Out To Help Out’ initiative to boost hospitality sector amid COVID-19 drew to close, UK Finance Minister Rishi Sunak urged citizens on August 31 to keep dining out. To give a kickstart to industry, government initiated a scheme offering 50 per cent off price of meals up to $13 on first three days of week at participating restaurants, with government paying differential amount.
August 31 marked final day of entire scheme and British Chancellor said that it reminded British citizens that y as a nation “love dining out” and urged diners to “maintain momentum” while contributing to ecomic recovery in UK. Rishi Sunak also thanked people who revived ir interest in dining out months after coronavirus outbreak dominated ir lifestyle. He also expressed gratitude for restaurant manrs who ensured safety and worked round clock.

“ scheme reminded us why we as a nation love dining out and I urge diners to maintain momentum to help continue our ecomic recovery,” Sunak said in a statement.
He ded, “I want to say thank you to diners who have fallen back in love with ir local, to manrs who have spent weeks ensuring ir restaurants were safe and to chefs, waiters and waitresses across country who have worked tirelessly, sometimes with more customers than y’ve ever h before – all helping to protect 1.8 million jobs in hospitality sector.”

'Eat Out To Help Out'
According to Open Table online booking website, more than 67 million meals were consumed by people under scheme up to August 27. As per official release by government, re are at least 84,000 sign-ups from restaurants for scheme that ends on August 31. entire scheme is aimed to help protect jobs of hospitality industry’s 1.8 million employees in UK by encouraging people to safely return to local restaurants with social-distancing.
