UK announces coronavirus 'Vaccine Taskforce' 'to beat invisible killer'
Amid the unprecedented coronavirus outbreak, the UK government announced a vaccine taskforce, which will work together to get a vaccine for COVID-19.

Amid unprecedented coronavirus outbreak, United Kingdom government, on April 17, anunced a 'Vaccine Taskforce'. While speaking at daily COVID-19 briefing, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Alok Sharma said that taskforce will ‘drive forward, expedite and co-ordinate’ efforts to research and n produce a coronavirus vaccine.
He said that it will bring toger people from acemia, government and industry.

According to official UK government website, taskforce will be led by Chief Scientific viser Sir Patrick Vallance and Deputy Chief Medical Officer Professor Jonathan Van-Tam. authorities will be supporting efforts to rapidly develop a coronavirus vaccine as soon as possible by providing industry and research institutions with resources and support needed. y will be reviewing regulations and scaling up manufacturing so that when vaccine becomes available, it can be produced quickly and in mass quantities.
Sharma said, “UK scientists are working as fast as y can to find a vaccine that fights coronavirus, saving and protecting people’s lives. We stand firmly behind m in ir efforts. Vaccine Taskforce is key to coordinating efforts to rapidly accelerate development and manufacture of a potential new vaccine, so we can make sure it is widely available to patients as soon as possible”.

As per website, taskforce will be focusing of five strands of activity including, supporting discovery of potential coronavirus vaccines by working with public and private sector, preparing UK as a leer in clinical vaccine testing and manufacturing working with companies. taskforce will furr review government regulations to facilitate rapid and safe vaccines trials, developing funding and operational plans for procurement and delivery of vaccines. Last and foremost, it will be building on UK’s research and development expertise to support international efforts to find a coronavirus vaccine.

UK government has also anunced that 21 new coronavirus research projects will benefit from funding worth around £14 million. authorities have also invited GP surgeries to take part in ‘ground-breaking trial’, to ascertain wher it could reduce need for affected patients to go to hospital and speed up ir recovery. Furrmore, government also anunced one new project led by University of Oxford, in which y will trial anti-malarial drug to determine wher it could diminish effects of COVID-19 on people in high-risk groups.
