UK PM hails approval of Pfizer's COVID vaccine, avows 'will allow us to reclaim our lives'

After British regulator formally approved use of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson hailed ‘fantastic’ move on December 2. He t only reiterated that first UK citizens would be vaccinated starting next week but also said that it is “protection of vaccines that will ultimately allow us to reclaim our lives and get ecomy moving again.”
In a major milestone, MHRA said that mRNA-based vaccine that has shown 95 per cent efficacy, is safe for mass roll out with immunisations in country starting "early next week" among high priority groups. Britain has reportedly alrey placed an order of 40 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine to provide double-dose immunisation to at least 20 million people. Anuncing news of Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory ncy (MHRA) approval, British Secretary of Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock said ‘help is on its way’.

As per reports, nearly 10 million doses of vaccine candidate, BNT162b2 will be available for UK shortly. Pfizer CEO hails 'historic moment' in fight against COVID-19
Pfizer Inc CEO Albert Bourla hailed UK government’s approval of its COVID-19 vaccine developed in collaboration with German drugmaker BioNTech as ‘historic moment’. While British government is eyeing to roll out first iculations starting within a few days, chief executive of American pharmaceutical company said that emergency use authorisation in Britain is a major milestone in fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

"Today’s Emergency Use Authorization in U.K. marks a historic moment in fight against COVID-19. This authorization is a goal we have been working toward since we first declared that science will win, and we applaud MHRA for ir ability to conduct a careful assessment and take timely action to help protect people of U.K.,” said Albert Bourla.
“As we anticipate furr authorizations and approvals, we are focused on moving with same level of urgency to safely supply a high-quality vaccine around world. With thousands of people becoming infected, every day matters in collective race to end this devastating pandemic," he ded.
