British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday visited a school in Kent and took part in a classroom lesson.

Johnson's visit to the Discovery School comes as the government announced schools would receive a 2% increase in funding next year.

According to the Department for Education, the 2.2 billion pound increase will mean at least a 3% rise in funding per pupil for the majority of local authorities, amounting to 4,000 pounds per primary school pupil and 5,150 pounds per secondary school pupil.

The government on Monday said it would be compulsory to send children back to school from September and warned that failure to do so could result in a fine.
