UK PM Johnson warns of new restrictions as second wave of COVID-19 'inevitable'

With the UK nearing 400,000  coronavirus cases, Prime Minister Boris Johnson, on September 18, warned that new restrictions might be needed.

With UK nearing 400,000 coronavirus cases, Prime Minister Boris Johnson, on September 18, warned that new restrictions might be needed ding that country was facing an ‘inevitable’ second wave of COVID-19. Britain h successfully curbed spre of lethal respiratory infection, however, cases soared in past few weeks, taking nationwide toll to 388,416. number of positive cases almost doubled to 6,000 per day, hospital missions, especially in rrn England and London.

Following surge, ministers have reported being considering a second lockdown, Guardian reported. dressing issue, Johnson said that rise in cases was a part of second-wave that was w unstoppable.

"We are w seeing a second wave coming in...It is absolutely, I'm afraid, inevitable, that we will see it in this country," Johnson said at a press conference.

Possible restrictions 

Talking about imposition of ar nationwide lockdown inste of local restrictions, 56-year-old reckoned that he did t want to ‘get into ar lockdown at all’. However, he did rule out possibility of increased restrictions. In dition, he said that looking at current situation in country, he wondered if country needed to go furr than six-member rule. recently imposed rule caps presence of members at a social garing to six.

This comes as Health Secretary Matt Hancock said that a second national lockdown would be a "last line of defence", following introduction of stricter local measures in rth of England. Speaking on UK brocaster Sky, Health Secretary said citizens should "come toger" to follow recent measures brought in by government, such as social distancing measures, wearing masks, and "rule of six" preventing more than six people from garing.
