The return of the two-year post-study work visa for international students was reintroduced by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. He announced this as one of the government measures to boost numbers of overseas students after Brexit, according to the British media reports.
UK to attract more students
The Department for Education told international media that, “There is no limit on the number of international students that can study in the UK, and to ensure the UK continues to attract and welcome them, the post-study leave period will be extended to six months for undergraduate and master's students, and a year for doctoral students." The authorities will also be improving the visa process for the applicants and enhance student employment. This is done to meet the demands after Brexit. It is considered a political move but with uncertain results.

Overturning May's decision
This announcement will overturn the decision taken by Theresa May’s government in 2012 in order to restrict immigration. Earlier the decision to revoke the visa provision which was criticized as there was a decrease of foreign students who enrolled in British universities. The former Education Minister Jo Johnson also campaigned to extend the visa period for the postgraduate.
