UN: Yemen to become the poorest country in the world amid Saudi war

United Nations said in a report that if the ongoing Saudi led civil war in Yemen continues till 2022 then it will become the poorest country in the world.

United Nations said in an official report that if ongoing civil war in Yemen continues till 2022 n it would become poorest country in world. percent of poverty in year 2014 was 47, and it is expected to reach 75 per cent by end of this year due to war. United Nations Development Program published a report on September 26 which discussed current scenario of Yemen. report quoted UNDP ministrator, Achim Steiner who said that war has me Yemen 'largest humanitarian crisis in world'.

Yemen is currently among poorest countries in Middle-Eastern region and its condition deteriorated even more after Saudi-led intervention in 2015. UN report says, "If fighting continues through 2022, Yemen will rank as poorest country in world, with 79 per cent of population living under poverty line and 65 per cent classified as extremely poor". report furr said, " intensity of poverty has also surged, with Yemen projected by 2022 to have largest poverty gap— distance between aver income and poverty line—in world". As per UN reports, war-ravd country w cant take a chance to wait and must act quickly.

UNDP ministrator also tweeted on October 9 about a campaign at Brussels Airport and metro stations to highlight work done by UN to restore livelihood and aid development in Yemen.

Saudi-led intervention 

crisis going on in Yemen h played biggest role to make Yemenis poorest in world.  Saudi Arabia intervention in 2015 took place with a coalition of nine countries from Arabian peninsula and African region. Yemeni President Abedrabbo Mansour Hi approached se countries for armed support when he was forced out of his position following Houthi movement. He fled to Saudi Arabia after that and since n Yemen is in crisis. Yemeni civil war has directly or indirectly killed millions of civilians. UNDP report says, "if war continues for next dece. If fighting continues through 2030, 78 per cent of Yemenis will live in extreme poverty, 95 per cent will be malurished, and 84 per cent of children will be stunted".
