UNESCO experts ready to assist reconstruction of iconic Notre Dame

Rssler, who visited site on Tuesday, April 16 told UN News that cadral is a universal symbol and centre of France and its devastation has left people across nations shocked.

She described seeing people praying outside stricken symbol of city and nation, still trying to take in scale of disaster.

"I saw many, many people going from Metro, to site of tre Dame, and I have to say many are still in a state of shock, because it's t only Christian community, it's a building for all of us, she said. Really, it's a universal symbol and it's centre of France I think this is really shocking people profoundly and y lost something that is part of ir identity".
Rssler said that a team of UNESCO experts is on hand to investigate stability of stonework and potential dam to stained glass windows, echoing a statement by UNESCO Director-General, Audrey Azoulay, in which she anunced that a rapid dam assessment would be carried out as soon as possible with authorities.

After visiting site of tre Dame on Monday night, Azoulay said we are all heartbroken.

Cadral is part of World Herit site officially kwn as Paris, Banks of Seine, inscribed on World Herit List, in 1991. tre Dame represents a historically, architecturally, and spiritually, outstanding universal herit. It is also a monument of literary herit, a place that is unique in our collective imagination, said UNESCO chief, ding that infer which engulfed cadral, but appears to have left medieval stonework intact, reminds us of power of herit that connects us to one ar. We are receiving messs of support from all over world.
cadral, where construction began in 1160s extending for more than a century, is considered to be finest example of French Gothic style of architecture, with its groundbreaking use of rib vaults and buttresses, stained glass rosettes and sculpted ornaments.
